Currency Exchange Rates API

The Currency Exchange Rates API delivers real-time data on global currency pairs, ensuring users have access to the most up-to-date information. With data being refreshed every 60 seconds, it offers unparalleled accuracy and timeliness, crucial for fast-paced financial decisions. This aids traders, businesses, and financial institutions in making informed decisions in a volatile market

Prices

The core data delivered by the API focuses on the current trading price of various currency pairs. The most traded pairs, such as EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and USD/JPY, are frequently available, and the  API extends its offerings to include minor and exotic pairs as well.

  • Bid: The price at which the market (or your counterparty) will buy a specific currency pair. Thus, at this price, a trader can sell the currency.
  • Ask (sometimes called the “Offer”): The price at which the market (or your counterparty) will sell a specific currency pair. Hence, at this price, a trader can buy the currency.

The difference between these two prices is known as the ‘spread’, and it represents the broker’s profit from the trade (aside from any commission or fees).

  • High: The highest price level reached by a currency pair during a specified period.
  • Low: The lowest price level reached by a currency pair during that same period.

Performance

This is an analysis of how a currency pair has performed over different intervals:

  • Daily: Performance of the currency pair over the last 24 hours.
  • 1 Week: Performance over the past week.
  • 1 Month: Performance over the past month.
  • Year-To-Date (YTD): Performance from the start of the current year.
  • 1 Year: Performance over the past year.
  • 3 Years: Performance over the past three years.

Technical

This provides an insight based on technical analysis, which uses historical market data, primarily price and volume, to forecast future price movements:

  • (Strong) Buy / Neutral / (Strong) Sell: These are recommendations based on technical indicators. For instance:
    • Strong Buy: A strong signal that the price of a currency pair might increase.
    • Neutral: The indicators do not lean towards a buy or sell recommendation.
    • Strong Sell: A strong signal that the price of a currency pair might decrease.
  • Hourly/Daily/Weekly/Monthly: This refers to the timeframe for which the technical recommendations apply.
